  But secondly and more interestingly for visitors, the Plaza Augusto Suarez is situated near many important sites of Estepona. It’s a real hub from which other places of interest radiate.

  Firstly – and possibly not to the advantage of the residents of the surrounding flats and houses – in the summer months tiered seating is set up, loudspeaker systems are installed, and open-air concerts, usually of popular music, are held late at night. While very nice for someone coming especially to hear it, the local sleepyheads may not appreciate this so much.

  At one end it gives onto the Plaza Blas Infante and the Casa del Aljibe – a beautiful example of an 18th-century nobleman’s house. You can go inside to admire it as it’s a museum now.

  A wide open space with so many choices. A whole set of pretty little streets going downhill on one side. More pretty streets leading off from the top. The beautiful building housing the museum, the Clock Square, the old market, the castle . . .

  And in the Plaza Augusto Suarez itself as well as in the Calle Villa or the Calle Castillo there are bars and restaurants offering things that you probably should go and sample! That's cultural too - gastronomical culture.
