  This used to be one of the emblematic squares of Estepona. With its white dome on the centre (hence the popular name of Plaza del Huevo - Egg Square) and its open spaces, it used to be crammed full of people. Eating and drinking in one of the bars, buying flowers from the kiosk, sitting on the benches and chatting, running up and down the stairs to the dome (under fives only with the energy for that!) and hosting several religious events each year.

  It no longer has the dome - which is rumoured to be re-built in a local park - but a wide open space where folk gather. There are fountains with coloured lights - those that suddenly come out of the ground from under your foot if you are not careful! - benches, palm trees.

  It is, of course, a mural. This is Estepona, home of the Ruta de los Murales! All along one side of the square - the back - there has been painted a "trompe-l'oeil" mural, so realistic you begin to wonder if it is real . you can't believe your eyes! There are mountains in the distance, and in the foreground part of a Nazari (Moorish) castle.
